Setting up home wireless network
For first time users, setting upon networks is much like asking them to do the impossible; it is mind bogging as personalized ISPs don’t support the home networks wi fi connections. Because you have to do this singly, here are some of the must know steps that will help you set up your password protected WIFI connection.

Having a working broadband internet and a wireless router and firewall are the basic requirements. To set up your wireless run the installation CD and follow the step by step guidance provided. It will be something like this;
Router connection : plug the device in to power search for the routers name from your computer wireless network lists. Select on it.
Configure the router: using the cables, plug one in the router and the other in your computer. To acquire the routers address, simply visit the address link provided where you will get the needed router settings.
Turn on the WEP encryption and enter a password followed then click generate. Key fields will be filled by pass words. Write down the pass word as this will be the required connection pass word for accessing your network.
Also ensure that no one will be able to operate your computer by simply changing your administrative password
After configuration completion, plug out the cables from the computer, select a name for your access points. You will be asked for password which you already have. Use them and after words you will be connected.

The next step is to have the router connected to the internet. Use the Ethernet cable and plug it into the port labeled WAN or internet at the back of the router. This is then followed by unplugging the power cable from the router then re-plug in the cable modem power supply. Give it few min to turn on and connect to the internet. Back on the router configuration page, under the status menu, your router will list an IP address. When this is done, know that you have been connected to the internet and can therefore surf freely.

WiFi security is vital and should therefore be personalized. WEP encryption or our passwords can easily be broken into by anyone and thus the reason why we have to include other settings on the router which include disabling SSID which will stop the router form broadcasting itself on peoples AP list. There are more security measure that you can employ to avoid your sever form being hacked in to by other people. Ensure to keep your password personal at all times. Plus the router equally has inbuilt firewall for protection purposes. Also note that certain servers that run behind the router will require specialized features and systems. These include gaming sites, and applications.
